The
6th Annual Texas Honor Ride Fundraiser and
Ride, held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the West
Conroe Baptist Church, was a HUGE success. More than 300 motorcycles,
the largest number of bikes to date, went on the annual
September Ride, escorted by 42 Law Enforcement Officers,
on a 75 mile Ride through the National Forest and surrounding area.
Several of our VIP guests (Wounded Heroes, their wives and their Moms)
mounted up and went on the Ride with THR Volunteers.
On
their return to the Church, the Riders enjoyed a Bar-B-Que meal, Houston
Frisbee Dogs, Vendors, the US Army's Apache Helicopter, the
Collins Foundation's Huey (which was taking folks for Rides), the Warriors'
Choice Car & Bike Show and perhaps the most successful Live
and Silent Auctions to date.
Attendance
(by motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists) was estimated at over 1,000.
Our
thanks to all of the West Conroe Baptist Church, Riders, Donors,
Law Enforcement, EMTs, Pilots and Volunteers who made this a great
day!

The Texas Honor Ride
from Houston to
BAMC on Veterans Day 2010 Weekend!
This
year, your generosity produced the biggest check ever.
$119,215!

Jason March and Judith Markelz accept this year's check for the Warrior
and Family Support Center
We
had a GREAT 2010 Texas Honor Ride. Despite a rainy start,
485 bikes and 10 cars participated. Including passengers, there were 644
people on the ride. Add to that the police
escort bikes and wounded warriors that rode to BAMC there
were well over 500 bikes on the
ride.
The
total money raised that day (including advanced registrations)
was just over $36,000. Added to the funds raised during the
year, we were able to present a check to the Warrior and Family
Support Center in the amount of $119,215. A very
generous Texas Honor Rider then pledged $785 to make the total an
even $120,000. What a great way to thank our
wounded warriors who have sacrificed so much for us and the
freedom that we enjoy in this great country of ours.
We
would like to give a great big THANK YOU to everyone who
had a part in making this year's Texas Honor Ride the biggest
and best ever. Thank you to all the THR committee
members and volunteers for all their hard work. Thanks to
the Blue Knights for escorting the rides and keeping us safe.
Thanks to Rudy's BBQ and Blue Bell Creameries for keeping our
hunger satisfied. Thank you to CMA for handling registration
and parking & traffic control. Thank you to the American
Legion Riders from Converse, TX for handling the Buc-ees gas
stop. Thank you again to the American Legion Riders for
organizing "Operation Overpass", what a great sight
that was. Thank you to CoVan for providing the motorcycle
transport chase vehicle. Thanks to Stevie Mac's Dance Machine
for providing some great music and entertainment. Thank
you to everyone who showed up at all of our events to support
our wounded warriors and thanks to all of the THR donors.
Thank you to Judith and the staff and volunteers at the Warrior
and Family Support Center for taking such good care of our wounded
warriors and their families. A a special Thank You to SGT
Belinda Lewis for her beautiful rendition of the National
Anthem. And most of all, thanks to our wounded warriors for
their sacrifice, and their families who support them!

Saturday
September 25, 2010 - the September Texas Honor Ride Fundraiser and Ride was
again hosted by the West Conroe Baptist
Church (1855 Longmire, Conroe, TX 77304). Live and Silent
auctions, Military Helicopters, great food and entertainment.

The Sept 25th Texas Honor Ride
Fundraiser is now history. The weather held out and we got a
great day with lots of sunshine (and some heat too).
Approximately 250 bikes went on the ride, including law enforcement
bikes. We had 29 vehicles in the car & bike
show. There were lots of great items that sold in our live
auction and we had a huge number of fantastic items in the
silent auction. We served 500 really tasty BBQ
sandwiches and then some BBQ beef plates when the buns ran
out due to the large number of people present. The Apache
helicopter was a big hit as usual. Our preliminary counts
show that we took in a total of $30,000 for the day.
Best of all, the wounded warriors from BAMC had a really great time.
I don't know to begin thanking all
the people who helped make this 5th Anniversary Texas Honor Ride
Fundraiser the huge success that it was. So I will just
say THANK YOU. Thank you to all the THR Committee members
who work hard all year. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped
set up the Church on Friday. Thank you to all the volunteers
who worked extremely hard on the day of the ride and then helped
clean up after the event. Thank you to the Blue Knights for
escorting the ride. Thank you to all the donors of both cash
and merchandise. Thank you to West Conroe Baptist Church for
hosting the ride. And thank you to everyone who
attended and participated in the ride and fundraising event.
Without all of your help and participation the Texas Honor
Ride could not happen.

When we got a 'heads up' on their departure time, some

Warriors, sunburned and smiling, all had a great
time in Texas. What a treat to hang out with
heroes...

Our
thanks to the hearty and generous souls who braved the rain to come out to the
Inaugural Texas Honor Ride Fun Run. The final tally on the day's donations
will be available soon, but it looks like we raised more than $5,400 for the
Warrior and Family Support Center!
The
First Place Prize went to First Lt. Miguel Rocha with a high score of
214 points on his 'hand.' In addition to the LT we were joined by Jason and
Sandra March, Andrew "Smoke" Young, Shane Parsons and Shane's
Physical Therapist, Arlan.

Stubb's Bikes and Bugs Open House
We would like to thank everyone who came all the
way down to Stubbs Harley-Davidson to volunteer
and help us out at the Stubbs Bikes & Bugs
Open House on 3/27/2010.
We had a very successful day. With your
help we sold $450 in Texas Honor Ride
merchandise to help us raise money for our
wounded warriors. More importantly, we all met
a LOT of people who had never heard of the
Texas Honor Ride. We were able to let them
know what we do and, of course, why we
do what we do, which is to honor and help our
wounded heroes. Everybody we met was given
a flyer for the Texas Honor Ride Fun Run
and we also informed them of our other rides.

Saturday and Sunday
FEBRUARY 20
& 21, 2010
33rd Annual
TEXAS OPEN CHILI
CHAMPIONSHIP

The 33rd Annual Texas Open
Chili Championship was a huge success for the
Texas Honor Ride this year. CASI put on
another great chili cook-off event with over 140
chili cooks on Saturday and about 40 chili
cooks on Sunday. In addition to the cooks
and the cook-off followers there was a big crowd of
Texas Honor Ride supporters and Papa's customers
available to help with the chili judging.
Everybody who judged got treated to some really
great Texas chili (I hope nobody suffered
too bad the next day). And finally, those
high flying Frisbee Dogs put on a great show
entertaining everybody. I hope everybody got
a chance to see them.
CASI will be splitting the
proceeds of the chili cooks registration fees,
etc. equally between the Texas Honor Ride and
Special Angels of the Woodlands. I will
update these figures as soon as I find out the
amount of the donation from CASI.
I would like to thank everyone who
helped to make this event such a big a success. There
were a lot of people who worked extremely
hard to make this event happen. I don't want
to mention specific names because I don't want to
miss anybody and hurt any feelings, but you know
who you are. I'm sure you all noticed
the great silent auction items and cakes that we
had for sale. It takes a tremendous
amount of time and effort to get these items.
So THANK YOU to everybody who "beat the
streets" and got auction items and cakes
donated. THANK YOU to everybody who helped
with registering chili judges. You can't
have a chili cook-off without enough people to
judge the chili. THANK YOU to everybody who
helped sell 50/50 tickets and raffle tickets.
A big THANK YOU to KP (ok, so I will mention one
name) who won the 50/50 drawing on
Saturday and donated his winnings back to the
Texas Honor Ride. THANK YOU to everybody who
helped in the THR merchandise booth. We need
to keep selling our branded merchandise to keep
the THR name in the public eye. And finally,
a big THANK YOU to everybody who showed up to
support the Texas Honor Ride and help judge chili.
I would also like to give a great
big THANK YOU to CASI for inviting the Texas Honor
Ride to participate in this event again this year.
Thank you all for your
support of our wounded heroes,
Terry

September
19, 2009
Hosted by the West Conroe
Baptist Church, the Texas
Honor Ride
raised $28,000 for the
Warrior and Family Support
Center. Some 291 Motorcycles
with 371 riders and passengers
(Plus Blue Knights, Law
Enforcement, Firefighters and
EMS) made the Ride. All
told, more than 600 people
attended the event. There were
42 entrants into the Car &
Motorcycle show. A huge silent
auction and great fun at the
Live Auction.
The
Apache had to cancel, but,
showing their continued
support for the THR, the 11th
Aviation Command sent us
ground personnel and wheeled
vehicles. The Coast
Guard sent an HH-65C Dolphin
Helicopter which was delayed a
bit by the low ceiling. The 6th
Cavalry Historical Society was
on site with demonstrations
and information. The
fly-over by Freedom Flight was
awesome and the Houston Frisbee Dogs
were flying too. There
was food, music and a Car
& Bike Show. The silent
auction and live auctions were
a huge success. Jason March
and his lovely wife Sandra
joined us and brought a few
friends from BAMC. ALL
of them went on the ride (Be
sure to read the
update on Jason.)
Our
thanks to all of the Warriors,
Blue Knights, Law Enforcement
Officers, EMS, Firefighters,

Donors. the West Conroe
