RIDE DAY INFORMATION

This is a Police Escorted Motorcycle Ride.
(Click here for Auto Rules and information)

The Route is Interstate 10. We start in Houston and finish in San Antonio. You must be able to obtain and maintain highway speed (70 mph) for several hours.  Autos will not be allowed in the Motorcycle columns.  Click here for Auto Information.

Blue Knights International and Law Enforcement Agencies from all over South Texas will be involved on the trip along I -10 from Houston to San Antonio. These men and women are on their own time and their own dime. Please take time to say THANKS to the officers who volunteer to help.

This year the Texas Honor Ride will end at Freedom Park

at the Warrior and Family Support Center, Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX

This Ride will end on a Military Base.

There are Special Requirements for This Ride

Please Read This Entire Page

Motorcycle Entry Requirements For Military Base

Motorcycle riders on military bases are required to abide by many regulations that are not required by state laws.  The Texas Honor Ride has obtained permission to reduce the military requirements for our police escorted riders. But...

You must comply with the following when riding on-post:

Both driver and co-rider must wear:  helmet; eye protection; full fingered gloves; long sleeves; long pants; and boots.

THR riders are not permitted to roam around the post.

Absolutely NO GUNS OR WEAPONS allowed on post.  Not even CHL holders.

No Weapons allowed!

No Alcohol.

You must wear your Wrist Band (which you receive at Registration/Check-in).

Please do not photograph the troops or their families without their permission.

Notice:
Pre-Registration is strongly encouraged, but you can register at either of the two locations the morning of the Ride.  If you intend to register on-site, only CASH or CHECKS will be accepted. Credit cards will not be accepted the day of the event.

Please print a copy of your receipt and the Release and Waiver and bring it with you to the 'Pre-Registered' Table at the Registration site.

Note: Even if you pre-register Motorcycle Riders CANNOT just show-up at BAMC in San Antonio.  Un-escorted riders will NOT be allowed on-post.  You must come to one of the two registration sites on November 10th to complete the paperwork, obtain a THR wrist band, participate in a safety briefing and then ride with the THR police escorted ride to gain access to Ft. Sam Houston.

Only riders and passengers with (THR) registered wristbands, riding under Police Escort and participating in the Texas Honor Ride will be permitted to enter the post.

IMPORTANT:

Please note the CHANGES (we're doing things a little differently this year) for the 7th Annual Texas Honor Ride to make sure everyone is on-post in time for Lunch and the festivities.

Agenda at BAMC

This is Veterans Day weekend and THR riders will be there en masse to honor and thank the wounded troops and their families for their sacrifices on our behalf.

This year's event will be at Freedom Park on Ft. Sam Houston at the Warrior and Family Support Center!

The venue is designed to allow and promote one-on-one inter-action between the riders and the wounded troops, their families and their care-givers at BAMC and the Warrior and Family Support Center. Please do not take photos of wounded troops or their families unless you ask their permission first.

We have a very special guest joining us at BAMC. Former Lt. Col. (Ret.) Brian Birdwell is a survivor of the terrorists' attacks on September 11, 2001. After hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 collided into the Pentagon, Birdwell was thrown to the ground and engulfed in flames. Of the burns that consumed 60 percent of his body, nearly half were third degree, resulting in the need for 30+ operations. Brian's recovery has been truly remarkable and spiritually he is stronger than ever before.

Brian Birdwell, now a Texas State Senator, was treated for his injuries at Brooke Army Medical Center.
